Interactive End Caps on the Walmart Entertainment Aisle

Monster Media partnered with Buena Vista Home Video, Marvel Studios and Walmart to promote the release of the 2014 blockbuster hit Guardians of the Galaxy. To capture shopper attention in-store, raise awareness to consumers online and provide an opportunity to digitally purchase or rent the movie, we created an interactive installation with tablets mounted on the end caps in the New Release section of Walmart. With these tablets, consumers shopping at Walmart had the chance to view the movie trailer at the point of purchase or take a photo with their favorite Guardian of the Galaxy. They could then enter their phone number or email address to retrieve the photo. Sent through on a personalized microsite, consumers could easily share their photo via social media or click to immediately “Watch it Now” to view the movie on Walmart’s Vudu site. During the limited test, the activation was a huge success with the movie continuously selling out at the stores, garnering hundreds of thousands of online views of the branded photos and hundreds of clicks to view the movie on Vudu.
